The Sandcrawler #97 - Changing As Collectors
August 21, 2020
Almost four years ago we decided to take our Star Wars collecting passion to the podcast realm. In that time we’ve evolved as fans and collectors of Star Wars. This week we talk about recent changes in our Star Wars rooms and what it means for the future of our collecting habits. In Dan’s case, monumental change. It’s a great story and a good discussion and we’re very happy to bring it to you this week.
We open the show by covering Hasbro’s August 2020 Fan First Friday livestream. Well, actually we open with some Batman talk. Batfleck or Keaton? Batmens? Some pretty cool 3.75 action figures are headed our way and we’re STOKED about the Vintage Collection Tantive IV play set. We also catch up in what new purchases we’ve found in I Wanted Everything. There’s all the general goofiness you’re accustomed to and we go on a slight rant on what COVID-19 means for humanity (and the queue at IKEA).

We managed to get this show to you despite numerous technical difficulties including no video for a promised YouTube segment (sorry, eh?). What did we manage to bring you? A huge I Wanted Everything featuring a very emotional Mac finding a replacement for a special childhood Star Wars toy. We then dive into part one of our look at the Cinema Scene sets from the Power of the Force line.

With all the madness going on in the world, why not take a break and have a laugh with us? This week Dan makes his case against Simon Pegg as Dengar, we talk about Hasbro’s new look for Star Wars Black Series (and fumble about whether they’re new figures or not).
A rumoured Vintage Collection Carbon Freeze Chamber has us excited (see photos of the Power of the Jedi version here) while collectors rally to save TVC (lend your support here: Change.org). ILM hosted a great YouTube chat between 4 legendary Star Wars creators. If you haven’t seen it, we’ve got the link for you. Seriously, great stuff! Here are images of the Syd Mead design that inspired the look of the Imperial Walkers.

The Sandcrawler #91 - Collect All 19!
*Content Warning: there are two strong F-bombs at the start of this episode•
We know there are far more important things going on in our world at the moment but we also know that we all need to keep some perspective and if possible have some fun and this week we are here to do that for you.
Yes, we may rant, lecture and flat out insult certain members of our society but between all that is a lot of fun Star Wars talk. After a PSA about Covid-19.
We start the fun off with a great iTunes Review from David Cabal (Thanks, David!) and Mac talks a bit about some updates in his Star Wars Room now that he has some downtime. We talk about The Rise of Skywalker digital release and novelization.
We catch up on Clone Wars Season 7, discuss Ahsoka on Clone Wars and the news that she will be appearing on The Mandalorian Season 2, played by Rosario Dawson. Friend of the show, Stephen Stanton celebrated 10 years since joining The Clone Wars and shares an awesome highlight video of his work.
We have some big updates to TheSandcrawler.net -
NEW PLAY OUTSIDE FEATURE - Luke Skywalker on Hoth
2nd NEW PLAY OUTSIDE FEATURE - Brandon Taylor- Swamp Patrol
NEW COLLECTOR'S SPOTLIGHT - Rob Williams’ Parent’s House
Both pages have been updated and redone. Much faster loading time and the new look will allow us to update your spotlight if you want. Great especially for your ever-changing Star Wars room.
With all the down time that (alot, not all) of us may have, spend some time with your Star Wars figures, get on the floor with your kids and play and send us a few photos.
It’s been awhile since our last show so we follow up on New York Toy Fair 2020 and discuss some great news uncovered by Yakface.com. There are some really cool figures coming, folks!
We share recent finds in I Wanted Everything and debate the endless debate of 5POA vs super articulated 3.75 action figures.
We revisit Power of the Force, this time looking at the CommTech wave from 1999-2000. It’s a small amount of figures but, yikes, there’s a lot of good ones! Thanks to Jedi Temple Archives and Rebelscum for their always excellent archival information!
The Sandcrawler #90 - New York Toy Fair 2020
This week is all about Hasbro’s panel at New York Toy Fair and try to find some hope in what proved to be a fairly underwhelming reveal. If you want The Child from The Mandalorian, you’re going to be very happy. If you’re looking for a wide assortment of characters from the hottest show on TV well…..we don’t know.
IMPORTANT LINKS WE MENTIONED:

Take a look at the new look of our Collector’s Spotlight page and be sure to send us photos of your Star Wars room to be featured in the spotlight.

The Sandcrawler #89 - Power of the Force 1998 Part 2 - The Good, The Bad & the Ted Danson?
We open with a very quick look at our recent finds: something shiny and new (and pre-ordered) for Dan and an oldie but a goodie for Mac.
New York Toy Fair is still a few weeks away so until then, check out Jake’s article on From4LOMtoZuckuss.com about what we know so far, toy wise in 2020.
Thanks to the ConverSWations Podcast for the very kind iTunes Review! If you enjoy our show, the best thing you can do for us is leave a 5-star review of your own over at Apple Podcasts.
On Episode 83 we began our look at the Star Wars figures from The Power of Force in 1998. This week we finish our look at that line: the good, the bad and the Ted Danson? Follow along using the always awesome Rebelscum.com Photo Archive.
